Carnelian Agate

Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz) that is orange. The bands in the carnelian agate form as pore water in rocks flows through open cavities, gradually precipitating the chalcedony in thin layers. The layers of carnelian are partially translucent.
