Swiss Opal

Green Swiss Opal is not truly opal. It is white and green chatoyant layers of chrysotile and serpentine. Chrysotile is a variety of serpentine that exhibits chatoyancy. This material has a flash when it is rotated through the light.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CHRYSOTILE IS AN ASBESTOSFORM VARIETY OF SERPENTINE. AS SUCH, CARE MUST BE TAKEN WHEN CUTTING THIS MATERIAL. PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE FACE MASK TO AVOID THE FIBERS GETTING IN YOUR LUNGS. IT IS SAFE OTHERWISE BUT THE FIBERS CAN BE DANGEROUS WHEN CUTTING.
