Tremolite

Tremolite is a metamorphic mineral that forms through contact of magma with surrounding rocks such as limestone. It is composed of calcium, iron, magnesium and silica and is closely related to actinolite, though tremolite is light colored and actinolite is usually green. These minerals can be asbestoform, meaning they have tiny fibers in them. The tiny fibers contribute to chatoyancy of the mineral, but it can also be hazardous to breathe. This material is hard and does not flake off easily into fibers. This hardness also contributes to a beautiful polish.
