Howlite is a white mineral with black veining and is frequently dyed blue to look like turquoise or red to look like coral, and buyers of these other minerals should beware of false advertising. Howlite has its own properties and uses, however. It is an evaporite mineral, meaning it forms when water evaporates, leaving the elements in the water behind to form minerals. It was first found in a gypsum quarry in Nova Scotia (gypsum is also an evaporite), where it was considered a nuisance to the miners. It commonly forms nodules and the veins create a spiderweb appearance.
Because of its porous nature, howlite is a calming mineral. The pores absorb negative energy, allowing you to release anger and stress. It is thought to assist with insomnia by absorbing negative thoughts and relaxing the mind. You can also carry it with you to absorb negative energy from anger – either your own or directed at you. It is also a useful stone for those with self doubt and critism by absorbing these negative thoughts.
The obelisks are approximately one inch tall, but each one is slightly variable in size and color. If you wish to select specific obelisks, please contact me for pictures of what is currently available. Otherwise, obelisks will be chosen at random. Use the obelisks as display in your home to control the flow of energy, or on metaphysical grids. These obelisks are also small enough to be used in making jewelry.
