Fancy Jasper

Fancy jasper is jasper that can be many different colors including red, orange, yellow and blue and may have a lot of different patterns including solid colors, flowers and dendrites. It is found in the San Rafael Swell of Utah in the Morrison Formation and the Cedar Mountain Formation. In some instances the jasper appears to be a replacement of wood. In other instances, it is unknown where the jasper comes from. It may be found strewn over the surface or in distinct layers in the rock.
