Serpentinite

Serpentinite is a metamorphic rock that often forms when a mafic magma comes in contact with the sedimentary rock, limestone. This interaction produces a skarn and numerous gemstones are found in skarns. Serpentinite mostly consists of the mineral serpentine but it also has calcite. The calcite is chatoyant and has a shimmery appearance.
