Shattuckite

Shattuckite is a mix of Azurite, Chrysocolla, Malachite, and sometimes Copper (Cuperite) in quartz.  It is an uncommon copper mineral that is highly regarded for its vivid blue color. Appropriately named after the Shattuck Mine in Bisbee, Arizona, where this mineral was first discovered, and found in copper mines alongside Turquoise, Chrysocolla, Malachite, Ajoite and other copper-based minerals.  It grows in both fibrous and granular formation. Shattuckite generally ranges from light blue to deep blue shades.

This Rare Copper Mineral has only been found in two locations: Bisbee, Arizona (which has long ago been played out) & Namibia (which is disappearing quickly).

Most available specimens are very small to about 1 to 2”. Large cabinet displays are highly sought after by collectors worldwide. With the only source still being the Congo, and with the higher quality specimens being extremely difficult to find!

Specimens from the Congo contain Shattuckite (dark blue-turquoise), Malachite (green), Chrysocolla (blue), Metallic Bornite (reddish brown) and occasionally Ajoite, Papagoite, and Plancheite (clear to blue) or Dioptase (green).
